Wheels4Flying are holding their first international meet and competition for wheelchair-users in Colombia from 10-22 January 2024. They are raising funds and still need donations to ensure the event goes ahead.
Twelve pilots are registered for the competition. They come from Colombia, Ecuador, Brazil, USA, France, Italy, Slovenia, and Austria. All are wheelchair-users, flying with specially adapted trikes.
Organisers say, “The first six days of the event is the meeting where participants will free-fly and get to know the area. The last four days the pilots will have the opportunity to participate in the first ever cross-country competition of this type”.
Wheels4Flying are raising funds to cover the cost of transport and logistics for the Colombia meet. You can donate via this link: Donorbox.org.
The organisation have been getting people with disabilities airborne in Austria and Colombia since 2023. Using specially-adapted trikes they take passengers on tandems, and also train pilots to fly solo.
