Working in tandem like the famous investigative duo, the new Sherlock and Watson 2 harnesses from Niviuk promise improved comfort and durability for professional tandem pilots.
Sherlock
The Sherlock is the new tandem harness for pilots. It features split-leg loops with support down to the knees. Niviuk say it is easy to use while being practical, comfortable and durable. It comes with a choice of either airbag or foam protection and .
The airbag protector includes Nitinol rods to aid pre-flight inflation and the airbag cover can also be replaced if damaged.
The Sherlock harness for professional tandem pilots
It weighs 2.80kg and 2.95kg in the medium and large sizes (including the additional airbag covering) and is aimed at professional pilots for everyday use. Niviuk say the semi-rigid structure allows the backrest and seat to “mould perfectly” to the body and offers a “high level of comfort” for long working days, adding: “it is ideal for long tandem flights.”
Niviuk have included camera pockets on both sides – because we all know that a tandem flight without a camera never happened.

Watson 2 – Sherlock’s partner in crime
Niviuk say the Watson 2 is the only reversible tandem passenger harness on the market. It has the option of airbag or foam protection like the Sherlock and Niviuk say it has improved comfort, durability and ergonomics. They also say it can “adjust to any passenger”.
The Watson 2: one size with adjustment options
It is available in one size – weighing 2.52kg (including the additional airbag covering) – which can fit passengers from 150-195cm tall.
