Kolland Topsport win Red Bull Dolomite Man 2009

On Saturday 12 September 111 teams took part in the 22nd Red Bull Dolomite Man race. Starting in Lienz, Austria, the teams of four had to cover a 50 km and 3,000 vertical metres course in a relay race against the clock and each other. Each team comprised a mountain runner, paraglider pilot, kayaker and mountain biker.

The runners started in Lienz square and ran 1,700 vertical metres to hand over to the paraglider pilots, who completed two flights, ending in the town of Leisach, where they handed over to the kayakers, who also completed two tasks. The final 12 kilometres and 1300 vertical metres’ return to Lienz were the domain of the mountain bikers.

The winning team, receiving 7,500 € in prize money, were Kolland Topsport – Jonathan Wyatt (NZ), Christian Amon (AT), Herwig Natmessnig (AT) and Alban Lakta (AT). In second were the Italian / Austrian team of Robotunits, and third another Italian / Austrian mixture, team Rossignol / Gigasport /Austrialpin.
