Stodeus have updated their tiny solar-powered vario. The new version, the Bipbip Pro still weighs just 26g. The company say it’s fast and reactive with clearer, loud sound and now with automatic launch-detection.
Stodeus list the main differences as:
- New ultra sensitive sensor and algorithm
- New ultra loud buzzer with smooth tone generation
- New powerful and scratch-resistant solar cell
- Multiple vario profile and many user settings
- Take-off detection
The ultra-sensitive pressure sensors have come from the drone industry. The Bipbip Pro samples 100 times per second, and has advanced algorithms to make it very fast and accurate – the most reactive flight pressure sensor-only instrument available, Stodeus say.
It uses synthesiser-generated sounds and has two audio profiles: long and progressive, or short beeps. It can be muted on launch and start beeping when it detects that you have launched.
The LED on the side is a three-colour lift indicator (green for strong lift; orange for weak lift; red for sink). The powerful solar cell is scratch-resistant, and the internal battery can power the instrument for 400 hours without sunlight.
