Mac Para launch Eden 8

A high EN-B aimed at regular pilots with XC ambitions

Czech manufacturer Mac Para has released the eighth iteration of the Eden, a high EN-B aimed at regular pilots with XC ambitions. It aims to satisfy the pilot who wants performance and precise control but also a high level of passive safety and comfort.

Eden 8 is a semi-light glider with a 2.5-line configuration and improved B/C control system, which will appeal to pilots who are regularly on speedbar, allowing rear riser control. Mac Para say it has an entirely new canopy design. “Pilots will appreciate improved response at the top of the controls, which is precise with reduced control pressure,” they say. “This results in instinctive manoeuvrability and improved climb rates in thermals. Even narrow thermal cores can be easily used with a large safety margin.”

New features include winglets, which help keep the wing from moving around. “At higher speeds, pilots need to make fewer corrections to the canopy’s lateral movements,” say Mac Para. They also say the winglets improve performance “by reducing drag from angle-of-attack adjustments and harness oscillations, overall glider performance is significantly increased.”

They add that its performance is closer to higher category wings thanks to technologies inspired by the Verve glider. They also say it’s easy to launch and thanks to the use of nitinol in the ribs the canopy maintains its shape “even when packed carelessly”.
