BGD have released the Luna 3, a reflex paramotor wing for intermediate and advanced pilots.

BGD say the new wing is “a complete redesign from first principles, and we’ve been growing, evolving and perfecting it for years.” The company say that designer Tom Lolies added extra code to their Alula Simulation Software to “simulate the high-speed behaviour and develop the wing that wowed the test pilots.”

Available in five sizes its behaviour is dependent on wing-loading. “Lower wing loadings are ideal for intermediate pilots. Smaller sizes flown at higher wing loadings are fast, dynamic craft that experienced pilots can push to the limits and have an absolute blast.”

Although not marketed as an out-and-out competition wing BGD say “the Luna 3’s speed, agility, stability and efficiency are all the ingredients you need to tackle the varied tasks of classic PPG comps.”

Designer Tom Lolies says a lot of work went into the redesign of the risers, “a major project in themselves.” They can be configured with separate brakes and tip steering toggles or for more experienced pilots can be changed to use combined 2D steering.

The redesigned brake handles feature an elasticated two-finger loop to make keeping hold of them easier. The risers include trimmers and a speed system and BGD claim the size 18 at its top weight has a max speed of 79km/h.

The company say the wing has easy launch characteristics, stable flight and “good slow-speed ability make for stress-free flying on any voyage.”

At the time of writing DGAC registration is pending.
