More than 30,000 pilots log their XC flights in XContest. Here are this season’s winners

Sebastian Benz has won the World XContest 2024 after an early season trip to Brazil helped him steal the crown from Edouard Potel. In the last two weeks of September the Swiss pilot racked up over 1,700 points with three flights in excess of 450km from Caicó, in Brazil’s northeast.

Edouard, who had been leading the rankings up until September and had flown a massive 350km FAI triangle in August to take pole position, had to settle for second place. Last year’s winner Timo Leonetti, who tragically died in a paragliding accident in June, was still able to come third, having accrued 2761.45 points, only 130 fewer than Sebastian.
