Manilla’s Godfrey Wennes has sent us this update on how the forthcoming flying season is looking in Australia:

Most of central eastern Australia (north of Forbes and all the way into Queensland) is in severe drought again and a long hot summer is anticipated by all forecasting models for this area. Interestingly the southern areas (Canberra-Victoria) are quite opposite and have a tropical green look ! Aside from the heightened extreme bush fire danger, the XC potential in the flatlands from classic sites such as Forbes, Hay, Manilla and Dalby is eagerly awaited.

Godfrey Wenness’s 11 year old PG open distance record (335 km) will be under attack as tow teams are looking to crack the 400 km mark this season. The Moyes team are also hinting at heading to their not-so-secret Wilcannia site for some record attempts. Stay tuned!
