Advance Lightness 2 X-Alps

Advance Lightness 2 X-Alps harness

8 June, 2015

Advance have unveiled the harness that Chrigel Maurer and Sebastian Huber will be flying in the 2015 Red Bull X-Alps: the Lightness 2 X-Alps.

A full racing harness based on the Lightness 2, the Lightness 2 X-Alps comes complete with carbon-footplate pod and inbuilt reserve housing. It weighs just 890g, including karabiners.

Advance say they designed it to be comfortable on long X-Alps flights, and extremely light, but don’t get over-excited and rush off to your Advance dealer to order one: The Lightness 2 X-Alps has no adjustment buckles – each one is custom-made specifically for its pilot – and as an “uncompromising X-Alps development” it is not suitable for serial production, says designer Patrick Bieri.

Chrigel Maurer and Sebastian Huber’s harnesses are unique, and not for sale; but you can be sure that the knowledge gained from their development will find its way into subsequent products, so that all pilots will be able to reap the benefits of this enterprise.

The X-Alps harness has a minimised seat and very light materials, including waterproof foil material used in competitive sailing, and paraglider cloth.
