AirDesign’s new Pure 2 is an EN-D wing aimed at competition level or more experienced cross-country pilots.

The design brief was to create a wing with the best performance possible with an aspect ratio of 7. The Pure 2 has a pronounced sharknose and uses AirDesign’s Vortex Holes® at the tips and outside cell trailing edges which AD say improve performance by diffusing vortex drag.

The build is described as “A two-line construction with 3 individual line levels”, with rearward positioned line tabs, a two-line aerofoil and a large distance between the attachment points, and inner-structures, but three line levels. This means, they say, both increased acceleration ability and reduced collapse behaviour.

AD say the Pure 2 has exceptional performance, top into-wind glide performance, increased climb rate in moving air and a flatter polar curve – especially under acceleration, with greater stability over the entire speed range.

Currently the M size (90 -105 kg) is certified, and  S, SM and L will follow.  It is available in two standard colours as well as in custom colours.
