The Eden 5 is the latest EN B paraglider from MacPara. Is it all good in the garden, or is there a serpent in the undergrowth? Marcus King reviews it in issue 151 of Cross Country and found out. He had a tasty start…
Unusually, my first experience with this wing was on an SIV course. This allowed me to take the wing further than I would be happy to over terra firma.
So, with zero hours under the wing I found myself on launch in Annecy with a fickle wind waiting my turn to launch in order to test the wing’s ability to deal with manoeuvres.
Looking at the certification for the Eden 5 shows a well behaved wing that mainly gets As with Bs just for the usual symmetric collapses and maybe slightly unusually on the 28 size I was flying sticky ears at the lower end of the weight range.
First though, take-off: something that was already defeating some of my friends in the slightly damp no-wind conditions….
