The Ozone Chabre Open, the friendly paragliding competition based in the little town of Laragne Monteglin in the French Haute-Alpes, takes place from 4 – 10 June this year.
The international, low-stress, friendly event is aimed primarily at experienced pilots who are new to paragliding competitions. The committee aim to run safe, achievable tasks with full briefings and de-briefings, to help pilots to see where they went right or wrong, and how the top-scoring pilots managed to get the best out of the day.
The social aspect is well catered for, with organised barbecues and parties. Many pilots opt to camp in campsite that hosts the landing field and competition headquarters, adding to the event’s convivial atmosphere.
The event is serial-class only, with prizes awarded for each glider category. There are also team prizes, and pilots are encouraged to fly in teams as it is a good learning aid, and a lot of fun.
Ozone, the event’s sponsor since its beginnings, will be on-site with a vanful of gliders for pilots to try out.
Registration opens on 30 January, 2011.
