Britain’s Dylan Mansley won the SRS Ozone Edition in Colombia which finished on 13 January 2024, with US pilot Summer Barham winning the women’s class.
In a tightly fought competition Dylan beat last year’s season winner Mark Hayman (GB) into second place, with Portugal’s Nuno Gomes placing third.
In the Women’s class Summer placed fifth overall and topped the Women’s table, with Esther Dielissen (NL) and Lidia Cabrerizo (CO) in second and third.
The competition was held in Piedechinche, Colombia from 6-13 January and was the first comp of the Sports-class Racing Series 2024 season. Launched last year the Sports-class Racing Series (SRS) is designed for pilots flying EN-C gliders and below.
The competition in Colombia was full, with more than 125 pilots from around the world taking part. It saw six good tasks of 70km, 80km, 55km, 67km, 47km and 46km throughout the week.
Both Dylan and Summer were flying the Ozone Photon (EN C) paired with the new Forza 2 harness, making it an ideal win for this Ozone-sponsored leg of the SRS. Ozone also dominated the Team event, with Ozone Team 1 and Ozone Team 2 coming first and second.
As well as Overall, Women and Teams the competition featured several other new classes based on weight: Midweight, Lightweight and Standard.
First-time meet director Seb Ospina called the competition a “massive success” and added: “Huge congrats to Dylan Mansley and Summer Barham for winning such an exciting competition. The future is looking bright!”
