Records tumble in Kerio

Michel Macquet and his wife Blandine broke four tandem records in Kenya’s Kerio Valley.

Congratulations Michel. Did you go to Kenya specifically to break records?

Yes! My wife and I arrived on 17 January. The plan was to spend two weeks flying and then go to the beach. When we were in Kenya last year we got the Speed-over-a-100km out-and-return record, but we made a few mistakes. I wanted to do it again without mistakes. We came with four records in mind – and we managed to break them all.

What wing were you flying? 

Ozone lent us a SwiftMax performance tandem last year. This year it was the prototype of the SwiftMax 2. It’s a great wing.

How did you prepare? 

We were coached by [former world champion] Charles Cazaux, a good friend. He also helped with admin: you have to do a lot before you launch. He explained how to achieve multiple...
