

Jeff Hamann knows a thing or two about the Pacific coastline of the Americas, having flown the length of it from the Mexican border with the USA to the top of South America.
In the construction business in the USA, his job allows him short and sharp periods of vacation – and boy does he use them. As well as flying the Pacific coast over many separate trips, linking them together into one continuous route over several years, he’s flown in many other places, from the USA to the remotest parts of Papua New Guinea.
His latest trip was along the Pacific coastline of Colombia and his ultimate aim is to fly south along the coastline until he reaches the Peruvian border with Chile.
In Cross Country 157 (Jan/Feb 2015) we showcase a set of photos from his unparalleled collection from Costa Rica, one of the most beautiful countries in Central America.
“It took me five separate trips to fly my powered paraglider from Nicaragua to Panama along the Pacific Coast of Costa Rica,” Jeff says, reflecting on his journey. “But I do have a few reasonable excuses…”
