Flymaster Avionics, have released a GSM-enabled GPS tracker, the F1-Live, which has already been sucessfully used in the 2011 Nordic Open and will be used in the X-Alps.

A sensitive 50-channel, 4Hz GPS, it has an internal memory that will store more than 50 hours of data with a one-second recording interval.

If network coverage is lost, the missing data is stored and sent as soon as it becomes available again. This prevents track discontinuities, and means data sent wirelessly can be used to score competitions, doing away with the need for pilots to download their tracklog at the end of the day.

An alarm message function enables the pilot to send SOS messages if he/she gets into difficulty, and you can set up automatic messages, for example when a pre-determined position has been reached.

The F1-Live is compatible with the Leonardo Live system and gives 20 hours use with four AA alkaline batteries.

It will be possible to rent F1-Live units for competitions.
