Niviuk’s new two-line competition paraglider for 2011, the Icepeak5, has passed load tests and is now in production.
The company describe the Icepeak 5 as “a glider of outstanding performance” which is light on the brakes and gentle on the speed bar. The Icepeak 5′s most striking feature is its swept-back and elevated wingtips, Niviuk’s ‘Remex Wingtip technology’. They say it makes the glider more stable in turbulence and reduces wingtip vortices, improving performance.
Less than 200m of total line keeps parasitic drag down, and the Icepeak 5 incorporates Niviuk’s Structured Leading Edge (SLE) and Structured Trailing Edge (STE) technologies. The leading and trailing edges are reinforced with a material that is lighter and more resistant to folding than Mylar.
