Hang Gliding

The FIA El Yelmo International Air film festival in Andalucia, Spain, takes place on 1 - 4 July 2010. The deadline for submissions to the film and photo contests is 18 June.

Rodrigo de Obeso has won the Mexican Open hang gliding championships which were held from 16 - 24 April 2010 at the sites of San Marcos and Tapalpa, Mexico.

The Austrian Ministry of Transport's new ZLLV 2010 (decree for civil aircraft and airsport devices) is expected to be in force by May 2010. It means that non-motorised paragliders, hang gliders and parachutes no longer have to be registered in Austria.

The United States Hang Gliding and Paragliding Association (USHPA) are holding their first annual National Hang Gliding & Paragliding Day, to promote the sports in their country. It will be on Memorial Day, 29 May 2010.

Aeros' new rescue parachute, the SX, has been tested to 115 kg with a descent rate of 5.5 m/s.

Swiss-based free flight equipment company Basisrausch have created a new glove for hang glider and paraglider pilots. The Crystal is a three season wind-proof glove that has been made for comfort, warmth and sensitivity.

The USHPA-sanctioned Texas Single Surface Shootout hang gliding competition takes place from 24 - 29 May 2010 near Luling, Texas.

The Monte Grappa Trophy was held in Bassano del Grappa on the edge of the Dolomites, over the Easter weekend. Manfred Ruhmer and Luc Armant won the hang gliding and paragliding categories respectively.

APCO have updated their helmet range for 2010. The open-face, lightweight FreeAir II, the full-face, visored Speed II and open-face visored Blade II are featured.
