Thomas de Dorlodot’s photo of a skydiver jumping from a tandem paramotor has been voted image of the year in Cross Country magazine’s Facebook photo comp.
Tom’s photo was voted photo of the month in February 2010 and then cleaned up at the photo of the year comp too.

Tom’s prize is a six page photo spread in a future issue of Cross Country magazine. As he has flown in Pakistan and is a regular Red Bull X-Alps competitor and professional adventure sports athlete that should be one good looking portfolio.
Tom is currently in Mexico where he is training with fellow Red Bull pilot Horacio Llorens. He said via – what else? – Facebook: “Amazing news. I am super happy about it and looking forward to selecting some more photos for the gallery.”
He added, “The photo was taken during the last Flypa festival in Spain. The Base jumper is Red Bull athlete Mario Pardo and the tandem pilot is from the Draco team.
“I was a bit lucky because before the jump I could not see the pilot or his passenger. When Mario jumped, the glider lost speed and rocked back for a couple of seconds, just enough time to shoot and catch it.
“We were above clouds, which makes the grey background. A bit of luck and good timing.”
