Fly a top flight from Serra de Estrela in Portugal, and you could win some serious cash to go with that satisfied glow.
Manteigas-based Clube Vertical, supported by the mayor of Manteigas, are running the Estrela XC Challenge to promote free-flying in the area. The comp runs from 7 May to 30 October 2016, and the top prize (for breaking a European record) is €2,000. There are smaller-denomination prizes (from €150 – €900) for various categories, explained on the club’s website.
Flights should be entered on XContest.org, and pilots must also register on Clube Vertical’s website to be part of the competition, where the full rules can be found. Britsh Open pilots should note that flights undertaken as part of a competition don’t count for the Estrela XC Challenge.
