Advance introduce the new Lightness 4

Tuesday 16 April, 2024

Advance have announced the long-anticipated Lightness 4 harness – with deliveries expected at the end of May.

The Advance Lightness 4 has been expected for some time, with rumours of its development first surfacing in August 2023. Today, Advance say it is the “next level” in comfort, with easier handling and a sportier look.

To improve comfort, Advance say they have completely redesigned the seat shell using 3D body scans to adapt it to real body shapes. They have also moved the centre of gravity forward to give “better support” for the back and also increased cushioning in this area. Advance say this will ensure “fatigue-free” flying for long and relaxed cross-country flights.

Fairing inlets

Almost five years ago Cross Country’s Hugh Miller questioned the decision to forego a fairing in his Lightness 3 review. But, the Lightness 4 now has a rear fairing, inflated by an inlet on either side – adding to the sportier look.

The rear compartment volume has been increased by 35% over the Lightness 3 to 22.5 litres. There is also additional storage under the seat, in pockets and a new space in the speedbag nose pocket.

Advance say they have a new cockpit which is “even easier to use”. A push-button secures content during take-off and an additional magnetic catch makes the cockpit easy to open and close in flight, Advance say.
