The Saint-Gervais paragliding club host this festival dedicated to everything lightweight. It’s an opportunity to see and try the latest lightweight kit from a range of manufacturers.
Hike-and-fly group excusrsions are arranged, with a range of options to suit different tastes and abilities, so you can borrow kit and test it out.
The Kaapse Buitepos Club in collaboration with Cape Nomads will be hosting the 2018 South African Paragliding Open from 9-15 December 2018.
There will be an official practice day on 8 December, and an unofficial additional practice day on 7th.
Porterville, in the South West of South Africa, about 90km from the Atlantic ocean and 120km north-east of Cape Town, has hosted several high-profile paragliding competitions. It’s renowned for its good mixture of thermal and dynamic flying and big-distance flights on the ridge and in the flats.

German flight school Paragliding Academy will be holding a one-day testival on 30 March 2019 at the Hündlebahn in Oberstaufen.
They will have test equipment available from Ozone, BGD, Woody Valley and Advance.
The Montegrappa Trophy competition takes place at Borso del Grappa in north-east Italy over the Easter weekend, 18-22 April 2019.
There are places for up to 150 pilots in the competition, which is also a round of the Italian Nationals 2019. Alongside the competition is a season-opening trade show – come and see the current lines of some of the industry’s biggest names.
Empesos is to host the 2019 Greek Paragliding Championship, which will also be a pre World Cup event.
Organisers say the site is well known as a competition venue, offering outstanding views, plentiful thermals, friendly locals and excellent fresh local food.

The dates to note for this year’s Super Paragliding Testival are 30 May to 2 June 2019.
Pilots are invited to come along and test wings and harnesses (solo only – no tandem flights allowed at the event).
You can walk to the ski lifts from the landing field where the manufacturers’ stands will be set up, and where the Fliegerbar will be serving cold beer and weisswurst (white sausage); then fly from the north-facing mountain slope, known for its gentle thermals.
Moyes are running a trip to Inner Mongolia for hang glider pilots, comprising a week-long competition followed by sightseeing or free-flying.
The base will be Guyuan, China, four hours northwest of Beijing, and the trip starts 6 June. It will be aerotowing, so pilots need to hold the appropriate rating.
The cost above includes the competition entry fee, welcome and presentation dinners and a T-shirt, but does not include aerotow fees, retrieves or airport pick-ups.
