The tenth Kössen Paragliding Testival is on from 31 May to 3 June 2018.
Last year saw record crowds at the Austrian event, with 4,300 pilots and 7,500 flights flown over four days. It’s rapidly becoming a must-attend for everyone in the paragliding industry.
The idea of the festival is that pilots can turn up, drop off their passport in exchange for a demo wing, and then use the cablecar to swiftly head up for a test fly. Dedicated pilots can fly lots of wings.
El Yelmo International Festival of the Air is back in Segura de la Sierra, Andalucia, Spain, on 1-3 June 2018. Hundreds of paraglider and paramotor pilots are expected, with 20,000 spectators over the weekend.

Moyes are running a trip to Inner Mongolia for hang glider pilots, comprising a week-long competition followed by sightseeing or free-flying.
The base will be Guyuan, China, four hours northwest of Beijing, and the trip starts 6 June. It will be aerotowing, so pilots need to hold the appropriate rating.
The cost above includes the competition entry fee, welcome and presentation dinners and a T-shirt, but does not include aerotow fees, retrieves or airport pick-ups.

The magical mayhem of the Coupe Icare takes place on the third weekend of September at Saint Hilaire du Touvet and the Lumbin landing field near Grenoble in the south of France.
This year’s festival pays homage to the great Leonardo Da Vinci, who died 500 years ago! There will be an exhibition at the church of Saint Hilaire and shows on the theme of the great Italian inventor.
A huge trade show takes over two large marquees as well as outdoor stands; demonstration flights from all sorts of craft fill the sky, and the fancy-dress fly down is one of the event’s biggest draws, with some truly crazy costumes. Don’t forget the all-important film festival that runs throughout the long weekend. As well as all of this, the south take-off becomes a children’s wonderland, with activities from kite-making to science lessons to meeting birds of prey.
Paragliding from the sites during the daytimes is restricted to fancy-dress competitors and authorised pilots, but plenty make the early-morning hike to the Dent de Crolles if conditions allow, for a morning fly down among hot air balloons.
Test out new lightweight equipment, speak to manufacturers and join in the group hike-and-fly sorties, under the watchful gaze of Mont Blanc. Or atop it, if you are really, really lucky!
The 4807 Flying Light salon at Saint-Gervais-les-Bains is now in its twelfth year and supported by 14 major paragliding equipment manufacturers. It’s grown in duration to a five-day event, and is one not to be missed if you love hike-and-fly in high mountains.
It’s free to enter the trade area, €10 to test out material.
The dates to note for this year’s Super Paragliding Testival are 11 – 14 June 2020.
Pilots are invited to put the dates in the diary then come along and test wings and harnesses (solo only – no tandem flights allowed at the event).
The ski lift that goes to launch is within easy walk of the landing field where the manufacturers’ stands will be set up. It’s also home to the famous Fliegerbar that will be serving cold beer and weisswurst (white sausage). Choose what you want to demo, head up the lift then fly from the north-facing mountain slope, known for its gentle thermals.
