The tenth Kössen Paragliding Testival is on from 31 May to 3 June 2018.
Last year saw record crowds at the Austrian event, with 4,300 pilots and 7,500 flights flown over four days. It’s rapidly becoming a must-attend for everyone in the paragliding industry.
The idea of the festival is that pilots can turn up, drop off their passport in exchange for a demo wing, and then use the cablecar to swiftly head up for a test fly. Dedicated pilots can fly lots of wings.
A second French Pre-PWC for 2018 is to be held in the Pyrenees in June 2018, hosted by Pôle Espoir Vol Libre.
The site of Targassonne, near Font-Romeu, is where a host of top French pilots (Charles Cazaux, Laurie Genovese, Jérémie Lager, Maxime Pinot, Méryl Delferrière, Simon Pellissier … ) learned to fly.
Base camp will be L’enclave campsite in the town of Estavar.

The Saint-Gervais paragliding club host this festival dedicated to everything lightweight. It’s an opportunity to see and try the latest lightweight kit from a range of manufacturers.
Hike-and-fly group excusrsions are arranged, with a range of options to suit different tastes and abilities, so you can borrow kit and test it out.
The Kaapse Buitepos Club in collaboration with Cape Nomads will be hosting the 2018 South African Paragliding Open from 9-15 December 2018.
There will be an official practice day on 8 December, and an unofficial additional practice day on 7th.
Porterville, in the South West of South Africa, about 90km from the Atlantic ocean and 120km north-east of Cape Town, has hosted several high-profile paragliding competitions. It’s renowned for its good mixture of thermal and dynamic flying and big-distance flights on the ridge and in the flats.

The Montegrappa Trophy competition takes place at Borso del Grappa in north-east Italy over the Easter weekend, 18-22 April 2019.
There are places for up to 150 pilots in the competition, which is also a round of the Italian Nationals 2019. Alongside the competition is a season-opening trade show – come and see the current lines of some of the industry’s biggest names.
Empesos is to host the 2019 Greek Paragliding Championship, which will also be a pre World Cup event.
Organisers say the site is well known as a competition venue, offering outstanding views, plentiful thermals, friendly locals and excellent fresh local food.

Moyes are running a trip to Inner Mongolia for hang glider pilots, comprising a week-long competition followed by sightseeing or free-flying.
The base will be Guyuan, China, four hours northwest of Beijing, and the trip starts 6 June. It will be aerotowing, so pilots need to hold the appropriate rating.
The cost above includes the competition entry fee, welcome and presentation dinners and a T-shirt, but does not include aerotow fees, retrieves or airport pick-ups.
