The Green Swamp Sports Klassic hang gliding competition takes place in Groveland, Florida from 18-24 March 2018.
It’s a sports-class only hang gliding competition, with experienced pilots mentoring those with less experience. It is run by the Oz Report, who write:
“We are very excited about this competition (as well as the huge Quest Air National Series coming in April). Moyes, Icaro and Wills will all be represented among the mentors. We’ll get to show off the changes happening at the Quest Air Soaring Center (Wilotree Park).
Sport Class competition provides an entry point for newer hang glider pilots who wish to improve their cross-country flying skills and who would like to get a taste of hang gliding competition. Competition has become very complex and this is a great opportunity to get help to learn the many aspects of competition”.
Explore this remarkable Caribbean island and combine it with a unique flying trip. The Cuban Nationals take place in Guisa, Granma, in the south east of the country. The area is the best place to fly paragliders in Cuba.
An Icarus X Series paramotor race, weekend-long little brother to the Icarus Trophy, is taking place at the end of March 2018 in South Africa.
“The X series was created on the back of the popularity of the Icarus Trophy, the world’s longest paramotor race, and features four shorter-format stand-alone race events across four continents (one in the US, one in the UK, one in Australia and now one in South Africa).
“March’s race will see pilots follow a stunning 340km two-day course. Taking off on the 30th of March, participants will follow an ABC-A course, starting & finishing at Zulu Nyala Lodge, Gauteng, and will fly over some of the area’s best nature reserves and parks, giving pilots a unique view of their wildlife, and stopping at checkpoints at the Vaalkop and Buffelspoort dams en route. A properly epic & diverse triangle showcasing South Africa at its best“.
As with the Icarus Trophy, there are Race and Adventure categories. Find out more at:

The 9th Mosel Paragliding Open 2018 takes place from 27-30 April 2018 at Zeltingen-Rachtig, Germany.
“For those who are unfamiliar with the area, the famous Moselle is running down from France through Luxembourg until it joins the mighty Rhine. The Moselle twists and turns its way between Trier and Koblenz along Germany’s most beautiful river valleys, exactly where our takeoffs are located – at the steep wineyards of the Moselle, which allows us short ways for any wind direction.
Safe flatland flying with tricky technical handicaps because we are surrounded by some airspace. Apart from the big SW take-off at Klüsserath, our take-offs are pretty small. That is the reason our competition is limited to a maximum of 85 Pilots”.
