The 16th edition of the Santiago Open is taking place from 7 to 10 January 2016 in the Chilean capital, with spectacular flying in the Pre-Andes on the menu for the four-day event.
An FAI cat 2 competition, organisers say flying conditions in January are reliable with dry air, strong thermals and cloudbases between 2,700 and 3,500m.
It’s a friendly, family-atmosphere event, with 40-50 participants from Chile, Argentina, Bolivia and Europe.
The site of Tom Weissenberger’s 350km declared out-and-return World record on 3 November 2013, Iquique in Chile, is to host the Class 1 and 5 Hang Gliding Open 2016.
It will be an FAI cat 2 event, and the dates to note are 30 October to 4 November 2016.
