Altitude with Attitude: Rainbow Beach Fly-In

Altitude with Attitude is a series of fly-ins, organised by Kirsten Seeto for female pilots in Australia rated PG2 or above.

The Rainbow Beach fly-in is a three-day fly-in for up to nine participants. Organisers say,

“We will use any non-flyable times to talk about instruments and weather forecasting tools, so bring your instruments and questions with you!”

The entry fee includes food and accommodation.

The Saint-Gervais paragliding club host this festival dedicated to everything lightweight. It’s an opportunity to see and try the latest lightweight kit from a range of manufacturers.

Hike-and-fly group excusrsions are arranged, with a range of options to suit different tastes and abilities, so you can borrow kit and test it out.

Autumn Cheese Cup (hike-and-fly mini-race)

The Cheese Cup is a mini-hike-and-fly competition based at Talloires on the shores of lake Annecy in France.

The cup (and a whole load of cheese) is won by the pilot with the highest cumulative score from the three one-day competitions.

The autumn competition dates are 8 September, 6 October and 20 October.

Canungra Cup 2018

Canungra Cup

Canungra, in Australia’s Gold Coast region, has several grassy take-offs covering all wind directions, located on 500m high tree-covered mountain ridges.

The Beechmont launch during the dry summer months can produce early thermals even at 7am. This results in long XC flights. The records are 325 km for a paraglider and 519 km for a hang glider.

One round of the Cup will count towards a pilot’s WPRS score.

The entry fee of AUS$480 includes a full retrieve, excursions and transport system including airport transfers.

Argentinean Paragliding Championships 2018

The 2018 Argentinean Paragliding Championships will take place at La Rioja from 14-20 October.

Organisers say you can expect excellent thermal conditions, and enjoy the newly transformed 500m² launch, complete with synthetic grass.
