The Stubai Cup takes place every year and this year’s theme is Flying Flower Power. “Love is in the air!”, say its organisers.
The three-day event combines an open-air trade show in the landing field, testival, aerial displays and a prize draw. Chrigel Maurer will be giving a not-to-be-missed presentation on the Friday evening so get there in time for that.
Pilot briefings and weather reports will be given daily in the school, and shuttles will run from the landing field to the lifts. Pilots can then free-fly over the snowy arena before landing back at the event site.
All registered pilots are automatically entered in the Fun Cup, whose prizes include an EN-A paraglider.
“We invite all interested private pilots, team pilots and partners to interact with the UP team, test UP products and celebrate.
The exact event schedule will be announced when we have a reliable weather forecast. Events include:
Presentation of the UP MERU and UP Ascent4 by UP developer Franta Pavlousek
Lecture about the Himalayan Adventure Trip by UP-Teampilot and adventurer Boxi
Guided Hike & Fly by Boxi
Musical background at the landing field by UP-DJ Kilian
Of course we will have all UP glider models available in sufficient numbers for extensive on-site testing.
The entire UP Team is looking forward to a social weekend and lots of fun flying together.

The tenth Kössen Paragliding Testival is on from 31 May to 3 June 2018.
Last year saw record crowds at the Austrian event, with 4,300 pilots and 7,500 flights flown over four days. It’s rapidly becoming a must-attend for everyone in the paragliding industry.
The idea of the festival is that pilots can turn up, drop off their passport in exchange for a demo wing, and then use the cablecar to swiftly head up for a test fly. Dedicated pilots can fly lots of wings.
“The BP Cup is an entry-level paragliding competition for Pilot rated pilots. No previous competition experience is necessary but you do need to be confident thermalling. Our aims are – flying, fun and learning – in that order!
This is a week of guiding in the local area with practice tasks preceding the Macedonia round of the main competition.
We will be based in the Hotel Montana Palace, just above the town of Krushevo, Macedonia.
The FlyFurther team’s XC camp is a six-day training camp sponsored by Triple Seven, with tuition and guidance from expert pilots.
It takes place in Tolmin, in Slovenia’s Julian Alps, and there are places for 50 pilots with tuition from Nicole Fedele, Bernie Hertz, Pat Dower, Brett Janaway and Stan Radzikowski.
Organisers say it is the perfect training camp for cross-country pilots interested in improving their XC flying skills. Task-focused XC flying will be fully supported with in-depth task briefs and debriefs, talks, parties and more.
All pilots will be given trackers for their safety and for analysing their flights.

The flying site is situated in the north of Portugal with high mountains and open valleys, surrounded by vast plains to several directions. The place is perfect and secure for cross-country flights. “Good for 100km triangles”, organisers say!
German flight school Paragliding Academy will be holding a one-day testival on 30 March 2019 at the Hündlebahn in Oberstaufen.
They will have test equipment available from Ozone, BGD, Woody Valley and Advance.
The dates to note for this year’s Super Paragliding Testival are 30 May to 2 June 2019.
Pilots are invited to come along and test wings and harnesses (solo only – no tandem flights allowed at the event).
You can walk to the ski lifts from the landing field where the manufacturers’ stands will be set up, and where the Fliegerbar will be serving cold beer and weisswurst (white sausage); then fly from the north-facing mountain slope, known for its gentle thermals.
