Celebrating the opening of the winter season in the Zillertal, Rise & Fall is an adventure relay race for ski-tourers, paragliders, mountain bikers and downhill skiers.
Teams of four athletes each cover 430m vertical – the ski tourers and mountain bikers go uphill, the paragliders and downhill skiers go, well, downhill.

The Stubai Cup is back! The 28th event will take place from 6-8 March 2020, and will host the Paragliding Accuracy Cup.
There’s always a great atmosphere at this open-air trade show and testival, and it’s a great way to meet up with old friends and kick-start the 2020 European flying season.
The eighth edition of the X-Berg Challenge will take place from 24-29 March 2020 with Extreme (three-day) and Mini (two-day) versions.
Paraglider pilots race mountain bikers and runners around turnpoints in the Drakensberg mountains of South Africa / Lesotho. The route distance depends which way you go, and typically only 10% of competitors make it to the finish of the Extreme Challenge.
2019’s Extreme winner was mountain biker Jon Kirkman who finished in 24 hours and 43 minutes; second in were biker team Justin Armstrong and Peter Joughin, a day later.
Between Heaven and Earth, who organise the event, are offering complete travel packages from Johannesburg International Airport to the 2020 X-Berg Challenge event, along with return transport, accommodation and add-on travel packages including trips to game reserves, Cape Town and Wilderness retreat.
The dates to note for this year’s Super Paragliding Testival are 11 – 14 June 2020.
Pilots are invited to put the dates in the diary then come along and test wings and harnesses (solo only – no tandem flights allowed at the event).
The ski lift that goes to launch is within easy walk of the landing field where the manufacturers’ stands will be set up. It’s also home to the famous Fliegerbar that will be serving cold beer and weisswurst (white sausage). Choose what you want to demo, head up the lift then fly from the north-facing mountain slope, known for its gentle thermals.
The dates for the 2020 Airtour, Saint Hilaire’s seven-day hike-and-fly race, have been set: 13-21 June 2020.
It will be the seventh edition of the tour. The route is likely to be some 300km long, starting from Saint Hilaire, the exact details to be disclosed nearer the time.
One of the world’s biggest paramotor fly-ins, the Mondiale Air Paramotor, will take place 19-21 June 2019 in Blois, France.
Close to Paris, the fly-in is expected to attract hundreds of paramotor pilots from across Europe and further afield.
The Mondiale takes place every two years.
2020 is an X-Pyr year! The fifth edition of the hike-and-fly race across the Pyrenees starts on 21 June 2020.
If you’d like to be among the pilots selected to race 500km across the Pyrenees from west to east, you’ll need to submit a pre-application on x-pyr.com by 31 December 2019.
