Women with (WWW) is a skills clinic for women hang glider and paraglider pilots of all levels. the second event will be held in Bright, Victoria from 7 – 11 March 2011.
The clinic will be run in the Ovens and Kiewa valleys, where cross country flying skills will be learned with an emphasis on fun and safety. If it’s anything like the last one, pilots can expect to come away with personal bests and improved flying and decision-making skills.
Organiser and participant in the first event, Helen McKerral, says “Many participants in the last WWW, including me, are still flying today purely because of the confidence gained from being in a group of female pilots and realising, ‘Oh, it’s NOT just me!'”
Theory workshops and lectures will accompany the flying, covering topics such as XC skills, intruments, dealing with fear and situational awareness from the likes of Brian Webb, Andrew Horchner, Tove Heaney, Craig Collings, Olli Barthemeles and Tony Barton.
Accommodation is the fondly-named Camp Krusty (the Bright Backpackers Outdoor Inn) which offers camping or cabin accommodation.
Thanks to funding from the HGFA, State Associations and the Civil Aviation Safety Association (CASA), the cost of the five-day event is only AUD 95 (€70 / £60) if you register before 20 January, and goes up to AUD 120 (€90 / £75) after that. There’s even a welcome barbecue and goody bag thrown in.
You can register on the Women with Wings website, and pay by Paypal, card or bank transfer to secure your place.
